Kate Kreindler is a visiting lecturer in Classics.  She received her Ph.D. in Classics from Stanford University in 2015, with a concentration in Classical Archaeology.  Kate specializes in the archaeology of pre-Roman Italy.  She deals with Italian consumptive practices and investigates links between consumption and economic development in central Italy.  She is developing a book project in which she will argue that indigenous Italian wine consumption spurred connectivity and economic growth in both Italy and in Greece. Kate is also the associate director of the Poggio Civitate Archaeological Project, a research project and field school based at an Etruscan settlement dating to the 7th and 6th centuries BCE.  She is a founding member of the Murlo Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes inclusivity in archaeological fieldwork by providing financial and organizational resources to students and staff at Poggio Civitate.
